Help Our Community Prepare for Disaster

Spend a day helping your community prepare for disaster: September 12th, 2017, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (or earlier).

Every 3 years, the Federal Aviation Administration requires the Bellingham International Airport to demonstrate that they are prepared to deal with a commercial airplane crash. This involves performing triage on the passengers and crew and transporting them to the hospital.  Under direction of the Port of Bellingham and with assistance of the Whatcom County Sheriff's Division of Emergency Management, the exercise for 2017 will be held September 12th.  All participants must have a State Emergency Worker Card. Under the direction of the Whatcom Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management, the Volunteer Mobilization Center will be processing temporary emergency worker cards for those who don’t have a State Emergency Worker Card. To sign up email VMC at or call 360-380-2200.
