Adult Education Lenten offerings on Wednesday nights Join us for Eucharist, dinner, and classes. Starting February 25, we will offer 3 classes:

Now You See It: Turning Our Attention to the Holy Spirit: Reading the Bishop’s Book for Lent with Fr. Josh;

Exploring the Book of Common Prayer with Pat Smith.

Exploring the Book of Common Prayer According to the use of the Episcopal Church.

An interactive exploration of the Book of Common Prayer; its content and organization, and its resources for our common use in public worship and personal devotion.

Goal: To facilitate a spiritual understanding of our common Book of Common Prayer and our becoming, as a community, the Body of Christ in the world.

February 25th: Self introductions. Begin to Engage with the Book of Common Prayer.

March 4th: What is the Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist? What is the meaning of ritual and sacrament? Are there different versions of the Liturgy for the Holy Eucharist? What is the sacramental meaning of Baptism and Communion?

March 11th: What are the “Proper Liturgies” for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and The Great Vigil of Easter? What is the emphasis the Book of Common Prayer places on our participation in the death and resurrection of Christ?

March 18th: The discipline of daily prayer and scripture reading offered by the “Daily Offices,” and how do you use them?

March 25th:
Goals: 1. How can rites from the “Pastoral Offices” strengthen how we witness God’s love in the world? Continued explorations of the “Prayers and Thanksgivings”
