As the days and nights turn darker, wetter and colder in Whatcom County, Interfaith Coalition is preparing to open our two Severe Weather Shelters. The shelters, for women and children at Garden St. United Methodist Church, and for men at our new location, the Lighthouse Mission Drop-In Center, rely on volunteers like you to provide a welcoming and safe place for the many homeless people here with nowhere to go.
Join us at either of two trainings for the men’s shelter, November 24 or December 17, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Drop-In Center (1013 W. Holly - located across the street and one block north of the Lighthouse Mission).
Both male and female volunteers are welcome. Meet other volunteers, learn about mental health issues and tour our new location. For our women’s shelter, training is December 16 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Garden St. Methodist Church (1326 N. Garden) --- females only, please. Volunteers for both shelters are needed. Just bring your commitment to help our vulnerable neighbors. You can reach Interfaith at 734-3983.
