This is the second Sunday of Lent which, properly understood, is the preparation for a renewal of our baptismal vows; vows in which we promise to see what is right with the world and trust that God is doing good, always and everywhere. But then we leave the church and look around us at this world. This is so difficult to accept as true.
As Rabbi Joshua Heschel asks? "Who will fan and force the fire of truth to spread across the world, insisting that we are all one...a fellowship of care, a covenant of brotherhood?"
