March 26, 2017 - Why are seven specific miracles called out in the Gospels?

Are you anointed by Jesus? You're baptized, but will you actually step into the water? Can you ask Jesus to cure your blindness, knowing that you are blind?

At first it sounds like a good thing, being anointed, but when it comes to being anointed by Jesus, it gets messy. He uses spit and mud, not oil. He himself was anointed, and was certainly not seated on a throne, he was not a conquering hero who drove out the Romans. And those anointed few, his disciples, went on to terrible fates as they spread the word of Christ.

During Lent we are exposed to the "guts" of Christianity. It's not for the faint of heart.
