July 31, 2016 - Baptism is more than just a ritualized, ceremonial "death"

You need to realize that you actually died: you died to anger, wrath, slander, abusive language. You died and are hid with God in Christ. There is no going back. Father Jonathan calls this realization the sine qua non (without which, there is nothing) of Christianity.

Don't feed your old self. Don't see only the fear and the hatred. All of that is dead to you. The world is to be received gratefully and reverently each day. And soon you see that what is "hidden" is your true life. You'll soon be operating at a level that you haven't yet experienced; that your true nature is yet to be revealed to you.

It comes naturally and is not some exalted state. It is being fully human, fully Christian.
